4. 状语从句的翻译

状语从句一般译在主句之前，有时也可根据原文语序来翻译，或按照汉语的习惯把状语放在动词的前面。

We can certainly overcome these difficulties so long as we are closely united.

Wherever you work, you must always serve the people whole-heartedly.
关于it 句型的翻译

it句型既可用作形式主语或形式宾语，还可用作强调句型，但各自的翻译方法不一样。
1. 用作形式主语的it 句型一般有两种译法：一是先译真正的主语, 后译形容词；二是顺译法。
It is still doubtful whether she would play the part.

2. 用作强调句型的it，其翻译方法是直接在被强调的部分前加上表示强调的词，如：“正是，就是”等。其他的强调句型可视具体情况而定。
It was your mother-in-law whom I met in the park the day before yesterday.
关于代词的翻译

英语句子免不了会遇上各种各样的代词，翻译时一般要将代词明确化、具体化，否则，会被相应地扣分。这些代词有it, this , that, those, such, one, so, do, the former, the latter等。
The food supply will not increase nearly enough to match this, which means that we are heading into a crisis in the matter of producing and marketing food. （本句中代词this指上句中的“population growth”。）

My father was quarrelling with the lawyer. the former was cool, and the latter was furious with anger.
关于and 的翻译

and 的翻译很重要，一般可翻译为“和、以及、同时、还、并且、而”。

Who he was, why he married her, what their problems were, and how it all ended happily are told with all the skill of a good storyteller.

In general, the tests work most effectively when the qualities to be measured can be most precisely defined and least effectively when what is to be measured or predicted can not be well defined. (1995年真题)
关于插入语和专有名词的翻译

句中如果出现插入语，可将插入语提到句子前面翻译。
