21. Invitation to Lunch 请吃午饭

A: Frances, do you know if the cafeteria around the corners open today?
B: Yes. They were open this morning when I came to work. They mustve finished remodeling. Whyd you want to know?
A: Well, I thought that maybe we could go there for lunch today. That is. If you havent promised to go with someone else.
B: Thatd be wonderful, Joe. But I hope youre in a better mood than you were this morning.
A: Im sorry I was such a grouch. It mustve been the weather. When it rains I get depressed.
B: Forget it. Ill see you at twelvethirty.

A: Why not try the beef pot pie? Thats the special today. Lots of people come in on Mondays just to get our beef pot pie. Or, how about the oyster stew?
B: No, Im hungry. That wouldnt last me the afternoon. I guess Ill have a hot beef sandwich with plenty of gravy.
A: Do you want it on whole wheat, white french, or rye?
B: Make it whole wheat.
A: Anything to drink?
B: Yes, coffee, but Ill come back for it later.

A: Thats chicken a la king.
B: Im tempted. but Id better not.
A: Maybe youd like the macaroni and cheese.
B: No, thats too rich. Just let me have a tossed salad, dark toast, and tea.
A: Do you want Roquefort, or French, or thousand Island dressing?
B: French dressing, please.
A: Thatll be two eighty-five altogether.
