What Will Happen After China Enters WTO?

　　Every Chinese takes China’s entry into WTO as a blessing and a promise of prosperity. It seems to be so at first sight, however, on reflection, we’re convinced that it’s just another coin with two sides.
　　On the one hand, both the nation and people will benefit greatly from China’s entry into WTO, for instance, foreign companies stream into china and offer great job opportunities. On the other hand, the entry imposes some negative effects on China. State-owned enterprises in China are undergoing great difficulties, which will be more acute with the flow of foreign competitors into China.
　　In short, excited about the advantages caused by the entry, we should not lose sight of the severe challenges posed by it.

UNEMPLOYMENT

　　Unemployment is viewed as the number one problem in China and the government has launched a major attack on the problem.
　　Firstly, unemployment fund has been established to help the unemployed workers to support themselves. Secondly, the unemployed receive vocational training, which is expected to pay off in the short term &. give the unemployed an advantage in the job market.
　　These training programs aim to equip the workers with some special skills, such as typing, sewing, and cooking. Finally, psychological advice is also available. With the advice, the unemployed will learn how to adapt to the fierce competition in the technological age. With the joint efforts of the government and the society, we are optimistic that we can win the current war on unemployment.

ON MARKET ECONOMY

　　Market economy offers businesses chance of expansion with free and fair competition. Under the system, a business is free to produce and sell products according to market demands rather than government plan.
　　However, it brings abort a great shock and challenge to many Chinese businesses. Many enterprises have difficulties in surviving. Some have closed down. It also has been creating unemployment over the country.
　　In fact, advantages of market economy are based on a reasonable economic and political system. To built up our enterprises competitiveness, the government should conduct economic restructuring while individual businesses should improve their technology and management.

ON EDUCATION AND MODERNIZATION

　　A modernized society means it can offer highest productivity and it has many well educated people capable of advanced technology and management. That’s why science and technology is the first productivity.
　　In fact, a nation’s education is the base for her scientific and technological capabilities because education is the sector that trains professionals on the one hand, it conducts scientific research itself on the other hand. For example, there is no university without a laboratory.
　　In china, we have too much to do to enhance the education. To me, the first importance is to effectively improve the social and economic status of the people engaged in education.

AUTOMOBILE

　　The automobile was developed in the first part of the 20th century. When produced for the first time, it was referred to as “horseless carriage”. Because it has been improved continually, it now goes faster, and is more durable and fuel-efficient.
　　The speed of the automobile can be of great advantage in times of emergency. If you are seriously ill, for instance, you can be sent to the hospital in the shortest time possible by an ambulance.
　　However, an automobile is like any weapon man might use. If a bus is put into the hands of an unqualified driver, it can kill a lot of people in a fraction of a second. Therefore, drivers should always have a high responsibility so that he can drive the automobile safely.

TRAFFIC PROBLEMS

　　Today, heavy traffic has been a headache problem in big cities. It makes people waste much time on the way home or to office.
　　People offer various solutions to this problem when they are asked. One solution is lay down more roads, to relieve the traffic density and accelerate the flow of traffic. But its disadvantage is taking up too much land. Another solution is to open up more bus lines.
　　But its disadvantage is bringing inconveniences to some people who do not take a bus. I believe the best way to solve this problem is the combination of the above-mentioned two solutions: we lay down more roads in the areas where roads are not enough and open up more bus lines in densely-populated areas.
