Good afternoon, and welcome to England. We hope that your visit here will be a pleasant one. Today, I would like to draw your attention to a few of our laws.

The first one is about drinking. Now, you may not buy wines in this country if you are under 18 years of age.

Secondly, noise. Enjoy yourselves by all means, but please dont make noise, particularly at night.

Thirdly, crossing the road. Be careful. The traffic moves on the left side of the road in this country. Use the crossings for walking and do not take any chances when crossing the road.

Finally, smoking. It is against the law to buy cigarettes if you are under 16 years of age.

8.How many laws are there discussed in the speech?

  Three. Four. Five.

  Women who take along children.

  Travelers to the country.

In both body and mind, children are different from adults because they are at a different stage of development. As far as the body is concerned, its obvious (明显的). A body of six months can sit up, but not run and so on. But their development of the mind is not so obvious. A small child, for example, does not understand the difference between the present and the future. So if a child asks for a biscuit, and the parent says "No, not now, dear. You can have one after lunch." The child often cries, and perhaps he is just being different. He does not understand the idea of the future, and for him, not now means never, so naturally the child protests.

10.Why are children different from adults?

They are at a different stage of development.

  They are at different places.

  They are educated differently.

11.When can a child sit up?

  About five months old.

  About six months old.

  About three months old.
